Dr. Castillo, Emily Hadjes, and Michael Hernandez spent a week together in Northwestern Nevada searching for pika poop and sampling vegetation. We quickly learned how to identify many new plant species, and that identifying grasses is REALLY hard (we mostly gave up on the grasses). NW NV is beautiful this time of year, with many wildflowers in bloom (very helpful with the plant ID)
Dr. Castillo came home yesterday and left Michael and Emily for another 2 weeks. What an awesome start to summer 2021!
